Aka Inside Out Brownies
This is one of my favorite recipes because I always have the ingredients on hand and they got rave reviews from Hubs’ squad.

They are also super simple to throw together and more than satisfy any sweet tooth. Not to mention, they use up whatever leftover candy you’ve got in the house.
What’s a blondie?
Now, I should clarify what a blondie is. It’s basically a brownie, without the chocolate. By adding the chocolate candies, it becomes an inside out brownie, if you will.A blondie is basically a brownie, without the chocolate. When to make them
This is a great recipe post-holidays, when you just can’t bare to stare at that half-eaten candy bowl any longer.
I regularly make these for Easter, but they’d be great for Halloween or Christmas, too. Just use candies that are color coordinated for the holiday and you’re all set.
How to make them
To be honest, I skip all the technical steps when I make these and just throw everything into a bowl together, then add in the flour, and then the candies. Sure, it would probably be more ideal to go step by step, but who has time for that?
If you really want to make them the technical way, the recipe is below. But, if you choose to toss everything in together and stir, I won’t judge!
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt (omit if using salted butter)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup leftover candies, chocolate chips, etc.
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Grease an 8″ x 8″ square pan.
- Beat the butter and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add eggs and vanilla, beat.
- Mix in salt, baking powder and flour.
- Stir in candies.
- Spread into pan. Bake for 30-32 minutes.
The beauty of this recipe is the speediness with which they come together. All the more important, because these yummy little squares are going to be devoured quickly and you’ll need to make more. Enjoy!
