Get on a Sleep Schedule and Wake Rested

I was up until about 1 AM last night, however, by 11 PM I was ready to fall asleep standing up. I knew this morning would not be pleasant, but here it is 7:30 AM and I’m already writing.

So, my goal today is to start getting on a schedule; get everyone on a schedule; get myself on a sleep schedule. Hubs scoffed at the idea, because that’s what he does, but I feel determined.

Maybe that determination is what woke me up fully rested this morning. It could have been my pure exhaustion well before bedtime. Maybe it was the fact that #1 didn’t crawl into my bed until much later and I had my pillow to myself for more than five minutes. Or maybe, just maybe it had something to do with this new site I’ve stumbled upon: Sleep Calculator.

Actually, I was intending to pull up the site sleepyti.me but couldn’t recall that simple web address, so my quick Google search sent me to Sleep Calculator. Which, personally, is much easier to understand. Sleepyti.me makes you calculate the time it takes you to fall asleep, while Sleep Calculator assumes that process will take 15-minutes and tells you the exact time you should go to sleep.

The site can tell you what time to wake up if you go to sleep now, or what time you should go to sleep based on the time you need to get up. The latter is more my style. Sleep Calculator breaks down your possible number of REM cycles and recommends that you wake between them.

No Coffee Needed

I really was skeptical that I would be well-rested this morning, but here I am. I have already brewed coffee but don’t feel a need for it.

We’ll see how today goes. Hopefully I’ll make it through without a nap, but it’s hard not to want to snuggle up for my own when #1 takes his.

Now, there’s another ball game: #1’s sleep schedule. How am I going to get a toddler to fall asleep at the exact right time to enjoy a specific amount of REM cycles? Ha!

I’m sure the sleep schedule will fall into place soon. Speaking of, check out my other post on our newly created family schedule.
